Experience The San Diego Safari Park in Escondido, San Diego. The park is approximately 1 hour north east of Downtown San Diego. Upon arrival, your destination will be filled with animals from the wild. Some of these animals are being preserved from extinction. The San Diego Safari park has made an effort for the animals to feel like they are in their original habitat to run free and roam. Guided tours are fascinating sometimes coming within a few feet of the actual animals. If you love nature, this is a must see!
For the marine life lover, you can’t beat the experience you’ll get at Sea World. Get close and personal with dolphins, turtles, sharks, and even killer whales. Come and meet the famous Shamu! There is a kiddie zone for the little ones at Sesame Street Bay of Play with age appropriate rides. There are also amazing shows scheduled all day. Rides are also available for older children and adults. Ride aboard the Sky Tower and see panoramic views for endless miles all over San Diego. It will be a view you’ll never forget!
If you love Legos, Legoland is a must stop for you. Legoland also has a themed Chima Water Park, SEA LIFE™ Aquarium, and a fully themed hotel with interactive Lego features. There are Legoland park hopper tickets available for sale. Legoland is also close to Carlsbad Flower Fields and the Carlsbad Premium Outlets for those who want to get a deal while they shop!
If you want to make a day at the beach, Belmont Park is a great destination for the entire family. There are many rides for children of younger ages from a merry go round to the Giant Dipper wooden roller coaster. It also features an arcade, laser tag, and plenty of places to shop and eat. You are minutes away from the sand and ocean. Tickets are reasonable priced for everything you get to do!

Balboa Park is truly a fascinating place located in downtown San Diego. There are nearly 20 museums you can visit, gardens, attractions, performing arts, play areas, and restaurants. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Many people actually get married there because of its amazing landscaping. There are so many things to do in Balboa Park. It’s perfect for a day visit or if you get a Passport to Balboa Park pass, you can spend up to 7 days exploring the park!
Gaslamp Quarter has been reinvented in San Diego over the past decade since Petco Park’s arrival. It is home to San Diego’s Victorian National Historical District. The city really lights up at night and would be a fun place to have dinner to explore the night life, shopping, and restaurants. This would be a good parlay visit to enjoy after your Seaport Village venture for the day because they are so close in vicinity.
Seaport Village is also located in downtown San Diego by the bay. It is a tourist attraction with many trinket shops. Purchase specialty items to remember your stay in San Diego. There are unique restaurants to enjoy and much fun in the sun. Great for a morning or afternoon stroll if you have a couple of hours to spare. Coronado is home to the beautiful and historic Hotel Del Coronado. The beaches are clean and family friendly. Coronado Ferry Landing is a great place to enjoy your day also. You can take a ferry ride to and from Coronado to downtown San Diego. The ferry ride is perfect for children to take a leisurely 15 minute ride across the bay. You spend your time touring the landing by renting bikes or you can relax and sunbathe in the sand. There are plenty of boutiques and restaurants to enjoy. It makes for a nice day with the family!
Mission Bay is the birthplace of the first triathlon and is a water wonderland. It is 27 miles of sandy beaches and shorelines on 4,200 acres of land and water combined. It is a fun place to have a picnic, barbeque, go kite flying, and enjoy a bonfire at night. Many people participate in water sports such as water skiing, sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, jet skiing, swimming, etc. You’ll also find folks skating, biking, and taking nice walks while enjoying the weather and what the scenery has to offer.
Old Town San Diego is the birthplace of California. Enjoy some history and Spanish culture. There are many restaurants, shops, and museums to enjoy. You can also stay at nearby hotels. The Whaley House is also located in Old Town which is known to be haunted. If you’ve always wanted to go to a real haunted house, The Whaley House is a must see!
Finally for the best views over San Diego, The Top of The Hyatt Hotel is sure to amaze you with a beautiful panoramic view of San Diego. It is 40 stories above San Diego Bay and is the tallest hotel waterfront view on the West Coast. You can also enjoy some appetizers and cocktails while feeling on top of the world. Mt. Soledad also holds a spectacular view especially during a clear night you can oversee most of San Diego. It is a prominent landmark in the community of La Jolla which is also the last known home of Dr. Seuss.
Torrey Pines State Reserve is awesome for a great hike overlooking the ocean. There are 8 miles of trails, a visitor center, and guided nature walks on weekends and holidays. It is incredibly well preserved, clean, peaceful yet stunning. Just south of Torrey Pines State Reserve is the family friendly La Jolla Shores. There is a great playground, surfing classes, kayaking, and plenty of restaurants close by to enjoy your day.
